Die Formel

Gutter volume = Run length × Width × Thickness

Rechenbeispiel: A 50 ft valley gutter, 24 in wide × 6 in thick: 50 × 2 × 0.5 = 50 ft³ ≈ 1.85 yd³.

A concrete gutter is hydraulically shaped but volumetrically simple: treat it as a slab strip at the gutter's average thickness. Dished spoon drains average their deepest and edge thickness.

Combined curb-and-gutter sections belong in the curb calculator, which adds the curb face prism on top of the gutter flag; this page is for gutter-only pours — driveways crossings, valley gutters and drainage flags.

Gutters take abuse from water and wheel loads: use 4,000 psi (M30) air-entrained mix in freeze-thaw regions and cut joints to match the adjacent pavement.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Häufige Fragen zum concrete gutter calculator.

How much concrete for a valley gutter?

Run length × width × average thickness. A 100 ft gutter 2 ft wide at 6 in averages 100 ft³ ≈ 3.7 yd³.

What thickness should a concrete gutter be?

6 inches for vehicle-crossed gutters, 4 inches for landscape drainage flags. Match or exceed the adjoining pavement thickness.

How do I measure a dished (spoon) gutter?

Use the average of the center depth and edge depth as your thickness — a 8 in center / 4 in edge dish averages 6 inches.

Curb and gutter together?

Use the curb calculator — it combines the curb face and gutter flag in one cross-section.
